Right then, we’ve done Night of the Living Dead, we’ve done Dawn of the Dead, we’ve taken a break for a modern zombie classic, now we have to start the inevitable decline in quality as we venture further into the realms of George A Romero’s zombie saga… Tonight, it’s Day of the Dead.
This edition being the fancypants 25th anniversary Blu-ray with a fancy comic, multiple box covers, a booklet by my random film bloke and a POSTER!The comic is pretty damn awesome, being a prequel tale focussing on Bub, the lovable ‘friendly’ zombie from the movie.
So, without further ado, Day of the Dead.
The world has been completely overrun with zombies! In an underground military base, a ragtag group of unlikeable arseholes shout at each other and complain a lot! An arsehole scientist experiments on the zombies for some reason! An angry military arsehole pisses everyone off! It all goes wrong and all the zombies go apeshit and kill almost everyone!
WHY IT IS GOOD!
BUB!!!!!! Some wonderful zombie effects and concepts are introduced! BUB!!!! The angry military arsehole is either a fucking acting genius or utter shit! BUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHY IT IS BAD!
The plot is wafer-thin! The acting is school play awful! It’s just soooooo grey and depressing! The angry military arsehole is either a fucking acting genius or utter shit! None of the humour or fun of Dawn is present, and the satire is lazy and fuzzy! Everyone is an arsehole!!!
RATING ON THE FUDGECRUMPET SCALE OF AWESOMENESS!
