It’s the last day of half term, and I am all worn out, so I’ve fobbed off my final post of the week to Megan, aged 6, with her review of three books by Elli Woollard, The Giant of Jum, The Dragon and the Nibblesome Knight and Swashbuckle Lil – The Secret Pirate.

So, here’s me typing for Meg, because if she was typing you’d just have a blog post full of the word POOP and lots of emojis. Lots and lots of emojis.

BOOK 1. THE GIANT OF JUM

20160605_191006

WHAT IS THE BOOK ABOUT?
This is a book about a grumpy giant who wants to eat children.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE STORY?
The giant goes into town looking for children to eat but then helps them out and they decide he is lovely and give him a MASSIVE cake. Then they are friends.

ARE THE CHARACTERS FUNNY?
The giant looks funny and not scary, and I like the rhymes in the story. They make it more fun.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT THIS BOOK?
I like the CAKE!

SCORE OUT OF 10?
A hundred and forty two thousand out of ten.

BOOK 2. THE DRAGON AND THE NIBBLESOME KNIGHT

WHAT IS THIS BOOK ABOUT?
This one is about a dragon who hurts himself and little boy who is a knight and helps him when he hurts himself.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE STORY?
The boy knight (he is called James) helps the dragon get better and then they realise they are friends and don’t want to fight, then they make all the grown up dragons and knights be friends too.

ARE THE CHARACTERS FUNNY?
I think it is funny that James thinks the dragon is really a duck. A lot of the grown up knights and dragons look very silly.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT THIS BOOK?
I like the part where James and the dragon stop fighting because they decide they are friends.

SCORE OUT OF 10?
A million and twenty two. Out of ten.

BOOK 3. SWASHBUCKLE LIL – THE SMART PIRATE

20160605_191022

WHAT IS THIS BOOK ABOUT?
This book is two stories about Swashbuckle Lil, a little girl who imagines that she is a pirate having lots of adventures.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE FIRST STORY?
Lil is in class, and she imagines that she is a pirate and she has to stop the evil pirate Stinkbeard from kidnapping her teacher.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE SECOND STORY?
It is the school sports day and Lil has to stop a crocodile from ruining everything.

ARE THE CHARACTERS FUNNY?
Lil is very funny, and all her adventures are very silly. Her teachers don’t think that any of her adventures are true, but THEY ARE.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT THIS BOOK?
I like that there is more than one story, and I think that it is good that is mixes real life and her pirate adventures.

MARKS OUT OF 10?
Fifty Five Forty Thousand and Three.

MORE QUESTIONS.

WHICH IS YOUR FAVOURITE OUT OF THESE BOOKS?
My favourite book is The Dragon and the Nibblesome Knight because that has the funniest artwork and the best story.

WHICH BOOK HAS THE BEST ARTWORK?
The Dragon and the Nibblesome Knight has the funniest art, but The Giant of Jum looks prettiest.

WOULD YOU WANT TO READ MORE BOOKS BY THE SAME AUTHOR?
YES! I want to see more of what happens with Swashbuckle Lil and her adventures.

HOW MUCH HAVE YOU ENJOYED READING THESE BOOKS?
I really have. I will read them again later too.

Thanks Meg, now clean the chimney on your way back up to your crawlspace.
